Zardari warned against derailing democratic processPresident of the former ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Saturday warned PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zaradri against derailing the democratic process. While talking to media persons here he said that Nawaz Sharif has already decided to derail the system and now Asif Ali Zardari is also following in his footsteps.”"Zardari must realise that the system standing on the NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) could be jiggled,” he added. He warned the PPP co-chairman to remain in limits and refrain from talking about impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf.”If Asif Zardari is facing people’s pressure for impeaching the President then he must think the pressure faced by President Musharraf when he gave him protection from corruption cases through NRO,” he remarked.Criticising, the politics of Mian Nawaz Sharif, the PML-Q chief alleged that the PML-N chief was staging what he termed “topy drama” on the issue of resignations from the ministries. The resignations, he observed were part of the ‘drama’ as Nawaz Sharif had asked Asif Zardari to keep his party’s ministers’ positions vacant. He recalled that it was Nawaz Sharif who registered ‘fake’ drug cases against Asif Ali Zardari, adding that his own statement was also part of the court proceedings in this case.He also said that no new case was registered in the entire tenure of President Pervez Musharraf. To a question, he said his party has in principle decided to sit on the opposition benches in the National as well as provincial assemblies and Senate adding that it was the final decision of the party and PML-Q is not willing to join the government. He said that while sitting on the opposition benches his party would play a positive and constructive role for betterment of the political system. He advised the coalition government to focus on the resolution of the fundamental problems of people so as to give them relief in the prices of daily necessities and get rid of the power as well as food crises.
