Fire swept through a flat building in southwestern Germany on today, killing a minimum of 7 people, including 6 kids, authorities stated.
The explanation for the fire wasn’t identified but authorities said they’re examining an oven in an apartment on the 1st floor of the former leather factory in the town of Backnang close to Stuttgart.
“There are no indications of arson or a xenophobic motive,” police said, adding that there was a German-Turkish cultural exchange association on the ground floor of the building.
Countless firefighters handled the blaze which started in the early hours of Sunday. By mid-morning, the blaze was under control but not yet extinguished, as per press reports.
