US State Department Deputy Assistant Secretary, Donald Camp ruled out the possibility of a war between Afghanistan and Pakistan and said that Pakistan is American ally in war on terror and no one is allowed to impose war on Pakistan.
This he said during a meeting of the Pak-American Congress here on Wednesday. Camp further said that President Pervez Musharraf is the head of the state and the United States will continue to deal with him.
Camp said Pakistan was trying its best to control terrorism and insurgency on its Western borders, and that the US was very serious in establishing reconstruction zones in Tribal Areas. A bill in this regard would be tabled in the US Congress “very soon”, he said. He said the present US administration was trying to ensure US aid to Pakistan would continue during the next set-up in Washington, and that he hoped ties between the two countries would remain friendly in future.
Camp said US President George W Bush had also met with Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in Egypt and that the US would also deal with him. Camp denied the US was against the reinstatement of the sacked judges in Pakistan saying the Pakistani parliament and the people of Pakistan had to make decisions on the issue themselves.
