Several die as avalanche rolls down at Chitral Scouts post

An avalanche rolled over a checkpost of scouts in Ziarat area of Chitral trapping 14 men Tuesday morning.

The rescuers later found six of the men buried beneath the snow alive and three dead bodies. The avalanche also hit the houses adjacent to the Chitral Scouts checkpost.

After getting reports of the incident a convoy of 200 men of the Chitral Scouts reached to the area and launched relief operation.

The rescuers found six scouts alive and recovered 3 dead bodies, identified as Zafar Ali Shah, Mirza Gul and Mohsin Ali.

Other five men including Muhammad Nayab Gul, Mukhtar Ahmed, Mehrab Hussain and Shahji are still untraced, as the rescue efforts continued.

The avalanche also hit some houses near the checkpost.
