The Supreme Court on Saturday was moved against the Islamabad High Court verdict dismissing a petition, requesting the court to stop the Speaker of National Assembly from allowing to pass any resolution regarding the restoration of deposed judges.Molvi Iqbal Haider filed the petition under Article 185(3) of the Constitution making the National Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Secretary of Law & Justice as respondents. The Islamabad High Court had ruled that a petition on the same issue has already been filed in the Supreme Court so the Islamabad High Court has no jurisdiction to carry out parallel proceedings.Haider and his counsel MA Bhatti had not appeared before the Islamabad High Court. The petitioner requested the court to set aside the verdict of the Islamabad High Court for being unjustified. Haider asked the court to declare NA Speaker, Deputy Speaker or any other member disqualified if they allow any debate, discussion or question regarding the conduct of the SC judges, with the exception of the Constitutional Amendment Act Bill. The petitioner maintained that matters related to judges could not be tabled or discussed in the Parliament under Article 68 and 69 and that the apex court should direct the Speaker not to present the resolution on the issue. The petitioner said that the resolution will be a violation of the Supreme Court verdict of November 21.
