Summary sent to President for repeal of death sentences: RehmanThe Prime Minister’s Adviser on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik on Saturday said that the government has moved a summary to President recommending conversion of all the capital punishments into life sentences. He said this while talking to reporters during his visit to local headquarter of FIA which was badly destroyed due to the deadliest blast on March 11 in a suicide attack. To a query, Malik said that the President would take decision regarding Indian prisoner Sarbajeet Singh who was also awarded death sentence.When asked about future of President Pervez Musharraf, he said Parliament would decide about it. In the past, the parliament was the weakest institution but we are strengthening it, he added. Talking about MQM and law and order situation in Karachi, Malik said that MQM is a political party and a team holding negotiations with that party.He said a clear message has been given to the enemies of peace in Karachi that lawlessness and violence will not be tolerated. ‘Peace will be ensured in Karachi at all cost and no body will be allowed to create unrest through burning of even a single tyre’, he said.He made it clear that there was no US pressure on the present government. ‘We are taking decisions at their own. We will eliminate terrorism from the country and in this regard all out efforts are being made’, he said. Malik further said that the government had given its policy to restore law and order in Parachinar. ‘We are establishing peace in Parachinar through negotiations with the stakeholders’, he added. He held the previous regime responsible for present price hike, flour and oil crisis.Earlier, Rehman Malik met Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif at his residence and discussed various matters of mutual interest. Both had also lunch together and exchanged views on important matters.
