President Pervez Musharraf Thursday said January 8 general elections would be held in fair and transparent manner and no intelligence agencies would be tasked in these polls.
Addressing the annual ceremony of Pakistani American Public Affairs committee here, he said he feels himself more stronger than before in his present capacity as the civilian president.
Talking on this occasion, he held unjustified the rumours of rigging by saying, “First time in the country’s history, an effective system has been worked out for holding the fair and transparent elections.”
‘Returning Officers in every constituency will declare the electoral results as well as these results would be posted on the website,’ he observed.
Vowing to continue his struggle against war on terror and maintain the pace of economic growth, President Musharraf said if there exists harmony among the President, Prime Minister and Army Chief, then Pakistan would make progress by leaps and bounds with no bars altogether.
