Pakistan on today criticized Bangladesh’s decision to drop a slated cricket tour over security concerns and threatened to bar its own cricketers from playing in a Bangladeshi league.
The 2 countries were planned to play a Twenty20 and a ODI international in Lahore this month, albeit pending safety approval. But on Monday Bangladesh shelved what would have been the 1st international cricket tour of Pakistan since militants injured 7 people in the Sri Lankan team and their assistant coach in Lahore in 2009.
BCB president Nazmul Hassan said the decision had been taken over concerns for players’ security, right after protests by Bangladeshis and a Facebook campaign against the trip.
