Shahbaz to get PA trust vote today

Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) President Mian Shahbaz Sharif will take the vote of confidence from Punjab Assembly today to be confirmed as the 23rd CM of Punjab in another term after eight years, seven months and 26 days. There are 82 members of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) in the 353-strong assembly, while the ruling coalition has overwhelming majority of 265 members in the house. Earlier on Sunday, he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab in a ceremony at Governor House Punjab here. Governor Salman Taseer administered the oath to the new chief minister.The members of new Punjab cabinet also took oath later.

Shahbaz Sharif was elected as the Leader of the House in Punjab Assembly.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal announced his victory and greeted him on his success, followed by a great applause by the assembly members.

Later during the address of new Leader of the House assembly members chanted slogans “Go Musharraf Go” and “Sher aya! Sher aya.”

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani greeted Shahbaz Sharif on his election as Chief Minister Punjab.
