Senate Standing Committee on Defence has asked the government to review its policy towards US.

Briefing the newsmen after committee’s meeting held here at Parliament House Tuesday, chairman Senator Nisar Memon said the committee was of the view that the national policy towards cooperation with US over war on terror should be reviewed.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defence Secretary has said the US-led coalition forces were using the country’s airspace with its permission.

Briefing the Senate Standing Committee, Kamran Rasool revealed that US forces asked Pakistan many times for permission to strike certain targets inside its territory. However, he was reluctant to state what the country’s response was over such requests.

The secretary said Pakistan could not win the War on Terror without US Cooperation.

“We could not say no to US as the national economy is on the verge of collapse and any possible sanctions by US over any such reaction of us could worsen the situation,” he noted.
