Search operation concludes, investigation report due today

Search operation in most parts of Marriott hotel including its 298 rooms was completed here on Monday.

According to rescue workers, there is no possibility of any other dead body in the gutted structure of the Islamabad Hotel.

Meanwhile, engineers said only upper part of the hotel was affected by the blast, declaring the structure and foundation of the hotel solid and safe. They also ruled out the possibility of hotel’s building collapse.

Besides, forensic experts were also engaged in their assessment work in the operation.

On the other hand, initial investigation report of the five-star hotel suicide bombing have been completed and is likely to be presented anytime today.

According to sources, report covers only the details of suicide attack and the losses incurred in this connection. It may be mentioned here the CCTV footage released on Sunday had a very limited scope.

Sources further told cameras were installed in all four directions of the hotel building and interior ministry had got the footage from these cameras. The most clear footage was taken from the camera which was installed on the barrier. Its’ footage showed face suicide bomber and small suicide blast.
