The Supreme Court(SC) has adjourned the hearing of a suo moto notice against the government’s commutation of convicts of death sentences for two weeks.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar started the hearing of the case on Monday. Attorney General Malik Qayyum has requested the court to adjourn the hearing for two weeks so he could take the advise from the government and prepare the arguments.

Attorney General informed the court that Prime Minister and Federal Law Minister were out of the country and government advice was not available, therefore, time would be given to seek the advice.

The court has accepted the request and adjourned the hearing for two weeks. The next hearing would likely be held on August 1.
