Release of additional 3000 cusecs water from Tarbela

Release of additional 3000 cusecs water from TarbelaIndus River System Authority (IRSA) released 3000 cusecs water from Tarbela Dam with an aim to raise production of electricity.

However, Pakistan Eelectric Power Company (PEPCO) termed the same as insufficient for overcoming the current shortage.

According to the information gathered by Geo News, IRSA has raised the water outflow from Tarbela Dam from 13000 cusecs to 16000.

Release of water will also be increased at Mangla Dam from 5000 cusecs to 8000 cusecs from Sunday.

There has been no increase in water supply to provinces for irrigation purposes, spokesman of IRSA Khalid Rana said, adding additional water is being supplied to PEPCO to help overcome the problem of load-shedding.
