Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would fulfill its commitment on the reinstatement of deposed judges but cannot give any timeframe, said Minister for Law Farooq H. Naek here Tuesday.
“Deposed judges will be reinstated in accordance with the law but we cannot set any deadline in this regard,” said Farooq Naek while taking to newsmen after filing nomination papers of Asif Ali Zardari for office of President.
The minister said the PPP has never retracted any agreement with the coalition partners and “PPP still stands on the same stance for the restoration of deposed judges,” he clarified.
He said the government has never discriminated among deposed judges and added that notions of minus-one formula are baseless.
“PPP believes in democracy that cannot flourish until the judiciary is given its due independence,” said the law minister.
When asked about the support enjoyed by the PPP for Presidential election, the minister was confident enough to say that PPP enjoys support of as many voters as required.
