PPP, PML-N may adopt differ on various issues: RashidFormer federal minister and PML-Q central leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said that the PML-N and PPP could adopt different paths on various issues in coming days as both the parties have different manifestos and ideology. Talking to a private TV channel he said it is a beginning of a new dawn but there was no representation of PML-N and PML-Q in the oath-taking ceremony of the prime minister held at the Aiwan-i-Sadr the other day.
He said people are pinning a lot of hopes from the new assembly but as far as the five-year term of the assembly is concerned, the prime minister himself had stated that first hundred days would be quite important. It is yet to be seen as to how they handle the core issue, the chief justice issue and it would be a test case of the new government he added. Sheikh Rashid said the new Pandora’s Box would open and new crisis would surface if all the decisions of the sitting judiciary are declared null and void. “We have to avoid confrontation as power is the name of compromise and reconciliation”, he suggested. About the unconditional support by the MQM to the coalition he said that he impressed by the political movement of Asif Zardari as he has demonstrated his maturity because no government could prolong more sans MQM in Sindh. He also enjoys majority in the centre as well and free from pressure from any other quarters. To a question Sheikh Rashid said it is the first government in the history which is moving towards confrontation since beginning. The cabinet members, he said, would not be free to make decisions as they would be controlled by their leadership outside.
He said the new government has to face three main challenges, restoration of deposed judges, 58 2(B) and foreign policy. He said if troops are pulled out from FATA, a superpower would involve there directly, which could push the country into a gigantic crisis.
