PPP plea regarding stopping Karsaz carnage proceedings dismissedPakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has expressed no-confidence in the special tribunal looking into October-18 Karsaz carnage.
PPP’s legal advisor and senator Farooq H Nake today sent a written request to Justice rtd Dr Ghous Muhammad, chairman of the tribunal, that his party wanted inquiry into the incident by United Nations on the pattern of Hirari commission.
The letter further requested the tribunal to stop proceedings and not to call any of the party worker or leader for deposition in this matter.
The tribunal, however, dismissed the request and observed it merited no consideration. It held the tribunal was constituted and matter referred to it by the Sindh government and only the referring authority could disband it.
Dr Ghous also ordered that a copy of the order be sent to Sindh home secretary along with a copy of the letter.
Meanwhile the tribunal issued non bailable warrants against PPP activist Abdul Ghani Baloch, who was driving the float of Benazir Bhutto on the day of incident, and directed Bahdadurabad police to produce him on January 30.
He had failed to appear before the tribunal and even refused to receive court summons on the plea he had no such instructions from his party.
The tribunal also examined Dr Syed Sardar Ali of Liaquat National Hospital and Dr Junaid Raza of Agha Khan Hospital. Both witnesses gave details about the injured given treatment by them.
The tribunal has summoned security advisors of Benazir Bhutto, Maj-gen rtd Ehsan and Maj Imtiaz and PPP leaders Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and Agha Siraj Durrani on January 28 for deposition.
