PPP lawyers played active role for democracy: Taseer

The Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer has said that the lawyers of PPP always played active role for the restoration of real democracy in the country and also contributed a lot for the independence of the judiciary.

He said this while addressing the lawyers of the Peoples Lawyers Forum (PLF), here at Governor House on Saturday.

Governor said that in the current international situation Pakistan could not afford the clashes with the world community. He added that this situation demanded us to make unity with in the country for the sake of real democracy.

Mian Muhammad Jahangir PLF President who was leading the delegation on the behalf of his organization congratulated Salmaan Taseer on assuming the office of the Governor and appreciated the part’s decision to select Salmaan Taseer for this post.

They demanded that the Punjab Government should appoint the Advocate General, Prosecutor General, the Judges of the Anti Terrorist Courts, Assistant Advocates Generals and the Legal Advisors of various departments on merit adding that the seniority and the loyalty with his party should also be seen.

Governor also met with a delegation of Peoples Labour Bureau lead by Abdul Qadir Shaheen in the Governor House.

The members of the delegation told the problems faced by the labourers in the province while they also appreciated the role of the Governor and Labour Minister Muhammad Ashraf Sohna for the betterment of the workers.

The labourers demanded the increase of wages and to implement the economic policies of PPPP for the welfare of the workers community.

The Governor assured the labourers to reduce the price hike and make more policies for the welfare of the workers.
