PPP contact Sherpao for support

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani Wednesday called on Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, leader PPP (Sherpao) at his residence to seek support for Asif Ali Zardari in the upcoming presidential election.

Talking to the media Aftab Sherpao said his party would take a decision at a meeting later in the day to develop a consensus on its stance about favouring the PPP presidential candidate.

He said Asif Ali Zardari has also telephoned him for support in the presidential election adding that the decision in this regard will be made after holding consultations with the party workers.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani speaking to media persons after meeting with Sherpao, said the Sherpao faction has similar views as Pakistan Peoples Party on the issues of sovereignty of parliament, democracy and political stability.

Regarding PPP’s position in Baluchistan assembly on presidential election, the Prime Minister said the provincial government enjoyed complete support of all political parties in the House.
