Political parties must unite to defend their right: Fahim

Senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party Makhdoom Amin Fahim emphasis that all political parties should sit together for defending their rights.
Talking to a private TV channel on Tuesday, Amin Fahim said he would seek working relationship with President Pervez Musharraf since their coalition government may not be able to impeach him. He further said that, PPPP’s coalition government in the centre and the province would be stable and strong as people of the country have awarded heavy mandate for the restoration of constitution and democracy. PPPP stands for independent judiciary and election commission adding the future parliament should seek all the legal measures in this connection. He said that all political issues would be solved in parliament through proper process.
He said that country was facing a number of challenges and it is the duty of political leadership to fix a direction, which could take the nation to its destination.
He said, “We want supremacy of law in the light of political doctrine of Benazir Bhutto”, he added. He further said, the basic problems like education and health should be solved firstly while the PPPP would continue striving for welfare of people. Control on inflation and fiscal empowerment of common people would be the major agenda of the party, he added. About PPP’s candidate for premiership he said the final announcement would be made within next few days. To a question he explained that in Balochistan consultations are continuing with various parties and the situation would be cleared within next few days. PPP enjoys clear majority in Sindh and likely to face no problem in making the government there, he said. He added “Our main objective is to work for the smooth transition to democracy. “We have to establish democracy and for that we need unity and not confrontation,” he said. The PPP leader said he didn’t have any intention of becoming prime minister, but would concentrate on party organisation and assist the government.
Amin said that his party will take all the political forces on board to ensure stability of system and good governance. Major objective of the PPPP is to put the country on track to democracy, progress and rule of law, he said.
