Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) is the third major party in parliament and will not make alliances or merge with any other party, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Monday.

Talking to PML-Q members of parliament, Hussain said that senior leaders in the party had expressed their trust in him. “We will overcome all the problems soon,” he added.

He said party elections would be held next year in which every party member, including Pervaiz Elahi, could participate for any post. “Some people are asking General (r) Pervez Musharraf to join politics. We recently visited the former president and he is currently playing tennis and enjoying swimming,” he disclosed.

He said the economic and security situations in the country were alarming. He hoped the government would complete its five-year term but warned the political parties would start demanding early elections if the status quo continued.
