Following the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products, the subsidy on petrol given to the people has zeroed.
Ministry of petroleum sources told that prior to the March price-hike, subsidy of Rs0.43 on per litre petrol was being given, while on the kerosene oil Rs15.39. Sources said that the government was giving Rs14.64 subsidy on per litre of light diesel oil. However, after the recent two doses of price-hikes, subsidy on petrol zeroed, but the subsidy of Rs18.05 per litre of kerosene oil and Rs16.02 on light diesel oil was still being provided, sources said.
OGRA said that the government would be providing subsidy on account of kerosene oil and light diesel a sum of Rs10.5 billion to the oil marketing companies up to March 31, 2008.
