Pakistan’s players are set for a major windfall after the Pakistan Cricket Board signed a $9-million deal with Dubai Sports City.
The PCB hope the deal will help to make up for lost revenue suffered after the postponement of the Champions Trophy and Australia’s Test and ODI tours.
Under the agreement, Pakistan will play their one-day internationals and Twenty20 matches in the United Arab Emirates capital.
Sources claim the PCB will receive $1.5million for every tournament held in the emirate while each player will receive a $100,000 appearance fee.
“Under the recently signed contract Pakistan team will play different events at the off shore venue for three years after completion of Dubai Cricket stadium next year,” PCB chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi told the Associated Press of Pakistan.
“It is a lucrative contract which will help in overcoming the loss after postponement of Champions Trophy, through this deal we will be generating enough funds besides having a definite programme of our team’s participation in international cricket.”
