Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif has agreed to field a consensus candidate of the two Muslim Leagues to win the presidential election, and asked Senate Chairman Jan Muhammad Jamali to play his role in bringing a consensus candidate.
He was talking to Jan Muhammad Jamali, who met him at Punjab House here on Friday. Nawaz Sharif said that his doors were open for dialogue with every democratic party of the country and at this juncture when the anti-democratic forces were busy in derailing the process, “we need to get united to frustrate these designs.”
He appreciated the views of the Senate Chairman for a consensus presidential candidate, saying that Jamali had to play his role for the purpose and convince the Pakistan Muslim League-Q leaders to withdraw their candidate in favour of Justice Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui. He said that he was desirous to end political tension in the country, and said that the political forces should show sagacity. Jan Muhammad Jamali told Nawaz Sharif that he would hold talks with Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and other senior Muslim Leaguers to get their support for a consensus candidate.
