Lt. Gen. Mushtaque Beg’s assassination probe begins Intelligence and security organizations have started investigations into the incident of attack on Surgeon General Pak Army, Lt. General Mushtaque Ahmad Beg.
Pak Army spokesman has expressed his apprehension that the attack on Lt. General Mushtaque Ahmad might be the reaction of Army operation in FATA and South Waziristan. Taking to French News Agency, Pak Army spokesman, Major General Athar Abbas told that the Rawalpindi suicide attack initially seems to be related to the Army operation against tribal areas militants, but the facts would unfold only after investigations.
This among the martyrs was the martyrdom of any senior most Army officer since Pakistan’s participation in the war against terrorism, following 9/11. Officials told that the teen-aged suicide attacker blew himself up reaching near the car of General Mushtaque Ahmad Beg, which resulted in the martyrdom of eight persons including General Mushtaque Ahmad Beg, his driver, guard and a woman. This is the eighth terrorist incident in Rawalpindi, following July 2007 Lal Masjid operation.
