Kohat tunnel again shut temporarily

The Friend Tunnel that is situated between Darra Adamkhel and Kohat, has once again been closed down temporarily on Saturday.

The tunnel was opened for light traffic on Friday.

According to Operation Manager of Dosti Tunnel Air Commodore (rtd) Qayyum Khawja, the tunnel has been shut down for repair work and will be re-opened today.

It should be mentioned that tunnel was occupied by the militants on January 24, 25 and 26 and the security forces rose for its evacuation from them. Thereupon, the militants tried to blow up the tunnel resulting in the breakdown of tunnel cable system and the system organizing Carbon monoxide and oxygen inside the tunnel.

In the meantime, Peshawar lay cut off from southern districts through Indus Highway.
