An Indian prisoner Kashmir Singh, arrested in 1973 on spying charges from Rawalpindi reached his homeland on Tuesday. Federal Minister for Human Rights Ansar Burney left him via Wagha border.
Earlier, Kashmir Singh was scheduled to visit Nankana Sahib, but due to security reasons, he was barred from going there by the authorities.
After his release, talking to media, Kashmir Singh thanked the President Musharraf and the people of Pakistan for setting him free after 35 years. He appealed to the Indian government to free Pakistani prisoners from its jails as a goodwill gesture. Pakistani court had awarded him death sentence. The President of Pakistan has waived his death penalty and ordered his release.
