Kamal Shah contradicts news item

The ministry of Interior on Friday contradicted a private TV flashed stickers about the alleged meetings of Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah with Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi and Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokar. According to Ministry of Interior, the news item was incorrect, false and exaggerated aimed at maligning the Ministry of Interior and Honourable Judges of the Supreme Court. The fact of the matter is that Secretary Interior was called by Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokar to Supreme Court to discuss the matter of Indian prisoners in Pakistani jails, the issue of arrest/detention of inadvertent border crossers and mentally sick foreigners detained under Foreigners Act. It is relevant to mention that Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokar is Chairman of Federal Review Board and in that capacity he reviews cases of all prisoners who are booked under the Security of Pakistan Act and Foreigners Act. It may be recalled that Honourable Justice as Chairman Federal Review Board had earlier called Home Secretary Sindh also to discuss the issue of arrested Indian fishermen.Secretary Interior did not meet Chief Justice of Pakistan or Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi.
