Haqqani presents credentials to President Bush

Pakistan’s new ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani presented his diplomatic credentials to President George W Bush at the White House, where the envoy and his family were warmly received.

Welcoming the envoy, the U.S. leader said the administration looks forward to working with him in further developing close ties between the two nations.

President Bush said you have a huge responsibility and that we will make this work, our relationship is very crucial, Pakistan is an important friend and we are partners, Ambassador Haqqani later said.

The Pakistani envoy said his country looks forward to continued partnership with the U.S. and that we are appreciative of all the support that he has given to Pakistan and look forward to further support.

President Bush’s meeting with the family of the new Pakistani took place in a very friendly and warm environment as the U.S. leader also spoke to his wife, MNA Farahnaz Isphahani about the fact that her grandfather was Pakistan’s first ambassador to the United States.

President Bush expressed his warmth towards the Pakistani nation and said the two nations will jointly overcome challenges of extremism. Ambassador Haqqani had also met President Bush in his Oval office last year.
