Government urged to release Dr QadeerLawyers have demanded of the government to free Dr Qadeer Khan from illegal detention. The demand surfaced at a joint meeting of the Lahore High Court Bar and the Lahore Bar Association, which also congratulated Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, asking him to respect the peoples mandate and revive the judiciary. The bars also urged President Pervez Musharraf to respect the mandate and step down. They also demanded of the government to divulge judicial reports on police torture on lawyers and journalists on March 17 in Lahore and killing of innocent people on May 12 in Karachi. Speakers said that the lawyers would not allow President Musharraf to further act illegally and warned marching to the army house if hindrance is created in functioning of the public representatives. Lahore Bar President, Manzoor Qadir, Supreme Court Bar Association Vice President, Ghulam Nabi Bhatti, senior bar members, Ahmed Awais, Furdoos Butt, and Rana Assad also addressed the meeting
