Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Monday said the new government would like to see the lifting of restrictions on atomic scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan.”I do not want to see his (Khan’s) movements restricted as they’ve been restricted in the past,” said Qureshi.”He is a respected Pakistani.”Khan is a “national hero” and would not be handed over to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) under any circumstances, Qureshi told a private TV channel.Qureshi said, “I think he (Khan) should be allowed to see friends, to go for a drive (and) to go have a meal at a restaurant. I see no reason why we should deprive him of that. “On the other hand, we also have to be concerned about his security and his health,” he said.
