Gen Ashfaq directs army officers to refrain contacts with politicians

The chief of army staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has directed all army officers to refrain from meeting politicians emphasizing that they had no role to play in politics.

General Ashfaq Kayani said that soldiers need to pay attention to their professional responsibilities…and not induge in political affairs of the country.

He also said that no officer is allowed to call politicians to the GHQ anyone violating this directive would have to face consequences.

According to sources, following the directives of the chief of army staff, army officers deployed in civil departments were being recalled to their units. Army officers working in Wapda and the railways have already been recalled.
