The army personnel would be deployed from today (Tuesday) in all sensitive areas for maintenance of law and order during elections in the country, caretaker Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz Khan said.
Talking to newsmen at National Police Academy here, he said army would start flag march in all sensitive areas from Tuesday. The government would observe zero tolerance in maintaining rule of law during election process.
He said steps are being taken to maintain perfect peace and no one will be allowed to violate law during polls process. Such elements would be dealt with iron hand. All security arrangements have been put in place, he added.
He said Saturday suicide blast in Charsaddha was an attempt by terrorists to sabotage election process. The government would foil nefarious designs of such elements by ensuring security measures during polls.
On former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, he saidmore than one suspect were present when blast took place on December27, 2007 at Rawalpindi. Security personnel have so far arrested four accused who are being interrogated.
The Minister said Scotland Yard team’s report on Benazir’s assassination was similar in facts to Pakistani investigation report.
