Clocks to be advanced one hour from June 1The government has issued a notification on Tuesday to upto one hour to get maximum benefit from day light. According to the official sources, the decision has been made in line with the Prime Minister’s direction regarding energy conservation in the country. It is pertinent to mention here that special cabinet meeting on May 14 had made several decisions to conserve energy. The cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister had also decided to advance the clocks upto one hour so that maximum benefits could be obtained from the sun light. Similarly, the Ministry of Water and Power on the directions of cabinet meeting and under its energy conservation plan has decided that air-conditioned will be switched off from 8 am to 11 am in all government offices including Parliament House as well as Prime Minister House.Besides, shopping plazas will remain closed on Friday instead of Sunday while no additional electricity would be supplied to the marriage halls to avoid misuse of energy. Under Energy Conservation plan, the citizens particularly shopping plaza owners have been directed to avoid misuse of energy. It was also decided that energy saver bulbs would be used to save energy.
