The teachers of Chiniot continued their strike and protest on consecutive 8th day against the torture of headmaster (HM). The Education Department has failed to take any action against the person who thrashed the HM of Govt Boys High School, Chak No 14-JB (Chiniot) in the school premises. On April 9, a man Maqsood, son of Rehmat Ali of the same village, forcibly entered the Govt Boys High School, Chak No 14-JB, where the exams of matriculation were being held. Headmaster Mian Muhammad Mansha Bhutta tried to stop him entering in to the examination centre as the entry of unauthorised people was banned under Section 144 around 200 yards of the examination centres. Whereupon, Maqsood got infuriated and hurled abuses at the headmaster (HM) and began to beat him with his shoes. The examination superintendent also reached there and tried to rescue the headmaster but in vain.Later, on the intervention of the teachers and students, he was sent out of the examination centre. The teachers apprised the high-ups of the Education Department, and the Intermediate and Secondary Board Faisalabad but no action has been taken yet even after a week of the incident. The teachers said that due to unsecured environment, it is not possible for them to impart qualitative education peacefully. Teachers regretted that neither the EDO Education, nor the Chairman Board and the District Nazim had taken any action against Maqsood. The leaders of the Teachers’ Union have urged the authorities concerned for immediate action against the culprit otherwise. they will expand the strike to the whole district.
