Change of name of NWFP meets historic demand: Bilour

Federal Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour on Saturday congratulated people of NWFP for acceptance of their decades long historic and cultural demand of changing the name of the province.
In a statement issued here today, he said the name of NWFP province would be changed as proposed in the constitutional package.
The Minister said the Kalabagh Dam issue has been completely shelved following the long cherished desire of the people of NWFP and Sindh.
The Minister said the construction of Kalabagh Dam at the cost of NWFP and Sindh would have ruined the country.
The construction of Kalabagh dam would have submerged five districts of NWFP and Sindh province would have faced a drought like situation, he concluded.
