Musharraf should accept rejection by nation, says Fazal • 03.08.08
Leader of Jamiaat Ulama-i-Islam(JUI) Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has said President Musharraf should accept that the nation has rejected him.
Talking to media after JUI meeting here on Saturday, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said that the meeting reviewed revival of Muttahida Majlis Amal(MMA) and vowed to support this platform if it would play active role in future.
Fazl-ur-Rehman said that if Jamaat-i-Islmai had not boycotted the polls, we would have been in process of making government in Frontier.
Commenting on President Musharraf’s remarks about defeat of extremists in current elections, Fazal said the President should accept that the nation has also rejected him and his supporters.
Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Saturday said that the Pakistan people’s Party and JUI-F had reached an agreement in principle to form the government of national consensus in the centre, Aaj TV reported on late Saturday night.

Central Secretary General of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) Maulana Fazl ur Rehman has stressed the need for holding free, fair and transparent elections, saying impartial polls would have a positive impact on the country’s politics.
Muttahida Majalis Amal would devise a joint line of action with other opposition parties in case of rigging in the elections, Maulana Fazlur Rahman said in a statement here. According to the statement released from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam office Lahore, Fazlur Rahman termed bomb attacks during election campaign a conspiracy against political process but added that he would carry on his election drive. “MMA will enforce a comprehensive system of accountability after coming into power,” he added.
Mutahidda Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said Maulana Fazal-ur-Rahman is not a part of the alliance now and pointed out that he was contesting elections from the platform of his party Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) of which he is the head.
