Weekly inflation up by 0.22 per cent

inflationThe Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on Sept 10, for the lowest income group up to Rs3,000, has registered an increase of 0.22 per cent over the previous week.The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 236.21 as against 235.

70 registered in the previous week, according to provisional figures of the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).SPI for the combined group registered an increase of 0.22 per cent by going up from 225.92 in the previous week to 226.41 in the week under review.As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for combined group in the week under review witnessed an increase of 7.95 per cent. As compared to last week, the SPI for the group falling in the income brackets of Rs3001-5000 and Rs5001-12000 and above Rs12,000 increased by 0.23 per cent, 0.25 per cent and 0.21 per cent.

During the week under review, average prices of 11 items registered decrease, and that of 16 items increased with the remaining 26 items prices unchanged.The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included potato, cooking oil (tin), bananas, gram pulse (washed), coarse latha, vegetable ghee, sugar, red chilies, voil (printed), mustard oil and masoor pulse washed. The items which registered increase in their prices included, tomato, garlic, LPG (11 kg cylinder), shirting, vegetable ghee (tin), onion, egg hen (farm), chicken (farm), wheat flour (average quality), gur, wheat (average quality), milk (fresh), moong pulse (washed), mash pulse (washed), firewood and rice basmati (broken).

The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included rice (irri-6), beef, mutton, bread plain (mid size), milk (powdered), curd, salt (powdered), tea (packet), tea (prepared), cooked beef, cooked dal, cigarettes, lawn, sandal (gents), sandal (ladies), chappal, kerosene, electricity bulb, match box, washing soap, bath soap, gas charges (up to 3.3719 mmbtu), electricity charges, petrol, diesel and telephone local call.
