Iraq on Yesterday gave the go-ahead for a framework contract to be signed for the construction of pipelines through Iraqi area that would deliver Iranian gas to Syria.
A cabinet statement mentioned that Oil Minister Abdelkarim al-Luaybi had been expected to sign the agreement, by which Iranian gas could be delivered in the future to Europe as well.
In July a year ago, Iran, Iraq and Syria inked a memorandum of understanding for the gas pipelines, with Tehran stating that the total price of the project would be about $10 billion.
