Budgets for Punjab, Sindh, NWFP today

Discussion on the federal budget for the next financial year continued on second day Sunday while the budgets of the provinces – Punjab, Sindh and NWFP - for the next financial year would be presented today.

In the session of the Punjab Assembly, provincial finance minister Tanveer Ashraf will present the supplementary budget for the financial year 2008-09 and the provincial budget for the financial year 2008-09.

For this, the budget session has been called at 11-00 am today. The overall volume of the budget is nearly Rs.380 billion.

For the province of Sindh, chief minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, who holds also the portfolio of finance, will present in the house at 5-00 pm today the budget of Rs.265 billion in which development programmes of Rs.65 billion have been kept for the province.

Budget for the new financial year for the province of NWFP will be presented in the house by provincial minister Humayun Khan at 4-00 pm. today.

The provincial cabinets will approve the budget proposals for the new financial year before the budget sessions.

Special funds will be reserved in the provincial budget for increase in the salaries of the government employees besides departments of agriculture, education, health and social welfare.
