Mullah Nazir killed in US drone attack

A US drone attack killed a Taliban commander, his deputy and 8 others in northwest Pakistan, intelligence sources and tribal leaders said today, weeks after he was hurt in a bomb assault believed to have been started by Taliban opponents.

Maulvi Nazir Wazir, generally known as Mullah Nazir, was killed on Wednesday evening when missiles hit a house in Angoor Adda, close to the capital of Wana, South Waziristan, close to the Afghan border, intelligence sources and residents says.

His deputy, Ratta Khan, was also killed, sources says.
