Security forces on Monday recovered a suicide jacket and bomb-making material from the house of a man allegedly linked to the plot to martyr Benazir Bhutto, officials said.
Intelligence agents raided the house of Sher Zaman and found the jacket, a switch lever, detonators and 500 grams (1.1 pounds) of explosives, a security official said, requesting not to be identified.
“The matter is being interrogated at a very high level,” said a local police official, who also did not want to be named.
Zaman, who was arrested on Saturday, is the alleged “handler” of a teenage would-be suicide bomber who told interrogators he was part of a three-man back-up team tasked with martyrdom of Benazir if she was not martyred on December 27.
