Attacks rise in Pakistan, Afghanistan, down in Iraq: US
Militant attacks rose last year in Pakistan and Afghanistan, but declined in Iraq, the US State Department reported on Wednesday. The State Department annual report showed that “terrorist” attacks in Afghanistan rose to 1,127 in 2007, up from 969 the previous year, while those in Iraq declined to 6,212 from last year from 6,628 in 2006. A State Department official also said that attacks in Pakistan rose “100 percent” last year.
