The Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee on Monday reiterated its full support to the Government’s policy and its three-pronged strategy to counter the growing threat of militancy in the country.
General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, chaired a meeting of the top commanders and announced support to the government’s policy about the militants.
“The Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee reiterated its full support to the Government’s policy and its three-pronged strategy to counter the growing threat of militancy in the country,” an army statement said.
The meeting was also attended by General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of the Army Staff, Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir, Chief of the Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed, Chief of the Air Staff, Kamran Rasool, Secretary Defence, Lieutenant General Shahid Siddiq Tirmizi (Retd), Secretary Defence Production and other senior Armed Forces Officers.
“Important regional developments impacting on national security were discussed, including a comprehensive review of external threats, the ISPR statement said.
The committee was briefed on the progress of development plan of the Armed Forces.
The Chairman and the Services Chiefs expressed their satisfaction on the operational preparedness of the Armed Forces. Other important matters having tri-service implications also came under discussion.
The evolving security environment within the country was also deliberated upon, the statement said.
