The newly elected Sindh Assembly members took oath on Saturday in the session summoned by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad at the Assembly Building.Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah has administered the oath to 161 members of the house. Stern security measures were taken on this occasion.The PPP strength in the House is 89, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has 51 members, PML-F 9, Q-League 8, while the NPP and the ANP have 2 seats each. The Saturday’s session will be prorogued after the oath taking of the MPAs, while the second session would be held on Monday for the election of the speaker, deputy speaker and leader of the house, the chief minister.Candidates for speaker and deputy speaker slots would get the nomination papers at 4:00 pm today.The nomination papers would be filed tomorrow and final list of the candidates would also be issued on the same day after scrutiny.The PPP has nominated Nisar Khuhro for the slot of the speaker and Syed Qaim Ali Shah for the chief minister. However, the Q-League and its allies have yet to decide about the line of action.. Sources said that Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad would administer the oath of newly elected chief minister on Tuesday who would take the vote of confidence from the assembly on Tuesday evening.
